staff and whpd posing with stuffed animals

On the Friday before the Super Bowl, Savin Rock held a Spirit Day in which students paid $1 to wear gear from their favorite sports team. The fundraiser, led by school psychologist Melissa Cohen, raised $139 which was used to purchase 20 stuffed animals for the West Haven Police Department! The WHPD uses stuffed animals as part of the trauma bags that they give to children on a call or at the police department.

During a visit to Savin Rock on Friday, March 17th to speak to our students, Sergeant Pat Buturla (middle) was presented with the stuffed animals by Cohen (left) and Principal Joe Lucibello (right)!
