Savin Rock hosted their first Literacy Night of the school year on Wednesday, October 17th. Savin Rock and Washington School collaborated for a night of multicultural story-telling. The event titled "Tunes and Tales from Around the World" featured story-teller Ann-Marie Forer. It was a great success!

Both school communities  enjoyed the camaraderie over dinner, and the musical storyteller engaged students and their parents through her interactive rendition of "Osebo's Tale" - an African tale about how the leopard got his spots.

Students took advantage of the literacy centered opportunities including shopping at the book fair, signing up for a public library card, or choosing a book to take home.

A very special thank you to Mrs. Jacobson, art teacher at Savin, for decorating around the gym and making the vision come to life.

Also, thank you to volunteer staff members for assisting with book-giveaway, raffles, and activity tables.

We look forward to our next Literacy Night in spring - hope to see you there!
